Prepare to get caught in a 35mm mosh pit as Wild Eye Releasing presents The Heavy Metal Horror Show! Appearing at Brooklyn’s own Nitehawk Cinema for two nights only, Friday, October 21st & Saturday, October 22nd, starting at Midnight.

Headlining the bill is the 1986 head banging horror classic Trick or Treat directed by Charles Martin Smith. Experience the mysterious death and backwards record-induced return of Rock N’ Roll superstar Sammi Curr (Tony Fields) as he haunts his biggest fan Skippy, er, we mean Eddie (Mark Price). Watch as Curr shreds till everyone on screen is literally dead, with special guest appearances by Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons.

And if that isn’t enough to satiate your sick minds, make sure to show up early to catch opening act The Ghost Of The New York Grindhouse Trailer Show performing a full hour of spine tingling horror and exploitation trailers from the 60′s and 70′s that will raise your hair, but without that can of Aquanet.

So cancel your Dungeons and Dragons game and raise your devil-horned hands in the air as we bring Heavy Metal to the silver screen in its purest form, with the entire evening’s events being screened from original 35mm prints and the volume turned up to 11.

So, avoid price gouging scalpers and get your tickets now! Advance tickets are available at the Nitehawk Cinema box office and at NitehawkCinema.com.

Fluorescent Black takes readers into the hard-hitting dark future of South East Asia where gene-tech has divided the human race into two races, and both the utopian and dystopian futures exist in near proximity. Known for it provocative ideas and scientific accuracy, Fluorescent Black has been praised by biotechnology web rings and counter-culture magazines as a seminal “bio-punk” novel. A visceral ride through a bio-punk future where life is cheap and death is the only way out.

Viz Media’s Detroit Metal City is like nothing you’ve seen before. I remember when the first volume came out. I knew nothing of the book, but as a Heavy Metal fan myself, I was instantly attracted to it. Now Volume 8 is hitting the shelves this Tuesday, and I’m salivating for it because I’ve become a totally obsessed follower of the cult of Krauser! I’ve throughly enjoyed every single volume, the cartoon series, and the live action DMC movie adaptation of this… manga. There, I said it. I like manga, but you won’t see me cosplaying anytime soon. Hmmm… although a Krauser halloween costume could be pretty cool.

By all appearances, Soichi Negishi is a sweet, well-mannered boy who loves Swedish pop music, trendy boutiques, and all things fashionable. But at the same time he’s also Krauser II, front man for Detroit Metal City, an indie death metal band whose popularity increases by the day. Once the DMC makeup goes on and Soichi takes the stage, his natural talent as a death metal god can’t help but flourish. Is this the band he’s truly destined to be in?

How did this happen? When and where did I go wrong? This is not the kind of band I wanted to be in!

It’s like Metalocalypse meets Mrs. Doubtfire on acid.

The live action movie stars Kenichi Matsuyama, a pretty high-profile star in the manga adaptation genre, having starred in the Death Note series as L, and in the Nana movie. It also features a guest appearance by one of my favorite people in the world… None other than the Devil Bat himself, Gene Simmons! You might know him from such films as Never Too Young To Die, Trick Or Treat, and a band you might of heard of called KISS! Unfortunately, the music in the live-action film does not evoke the true evil spirit of the manga, going for a nu-metal sound, unlike the anime, which used more traditional death-metal music. I still wholeheartedly recommend the film, for the characters are spot-on and hilarious.

Now can someone please tell me where I can find a DMC shirt?

Heavy Metal Pulp aims to partner the top illustrators and designers from Heavy Metal with today’s most talented science fiction writers to create a new series with a 21st century edge, blending the sensuous artistic style and graphic imagery of the iconic fantasy magazine with classic noir storytelling.

Their first foray, Pleasure Model, penned by Christopher Rowley, is out this week.

PLEASURE MODEL stars down-and-out police detective Rook, who gets his break when he’s assigned to a bizarre and vicious murder case. The clues are colder than the corpse and the case looks like it’ll remain unsolved—until an eyewitness is discovered. But the witness is an illegal gene-grown human with no emotion or empathy—Plesur’s only purpose is to provide satisfaction to her owner, in any way. When the murderer targets Plesur in order to eliminate the one witness, Rook takes her into hiding to protect her. Thus begins a descent into the dark world of exotic pleasure bots and their illicit international buyers and manufacturers as Rook frantically looks for clues. But is Rook falling under Plesur’s spell . . . ?
