FPNYC IDW Convention Sketchbook Twitter Giveaway

New York Comic-Con is coming up, and so are dozens of regional shows throughout the country.  And what’s the biggest thing going at conventions these days… other than cosplay?  Meeting and greeting our favorite creators!  For many of you, it’s also a chance to commission sketches by some of the most talented artists in the world as well.

These sketches tend to look kinda poopy when you hand the creator your grocery list and say to the artist, “Yo, draw the Punisher on the back of this for me.” Or something to that effect.  That’s why IDW Publishing created their own Convention Sketchbook.

Using the same high-quality paper from our prestigious hardcover collections, your sketches will look fantastic while being protected from creases and exterior contaminants.

On Monday August 20th 2012 we’re going to give away 5 of these sketchbooks to 5 Twitter followers!  How do you enter to win one?  Follow the simple steps below:

Hey @FPNYC Please enter me to win an @IDWPublishing Convention Sketckbook!

  • Um. That’s about it!

We’ll be picking five winners on Monday 8/20/12 at 5pm EDT.  Good Luck!

THIS SATURDAY: Pete’s Mini Zine Fest 2012!

Saturday, July 21st at 2pm

at Pete’s Candy Store in Brooklyn

It’s time for the fourth Pete’s Mini Zine Fest, the fest-in-a-bar.

Our celebration of the duplicated arts promises a good time and a relaxing atmosphere, and is a great opportunity to really get to know our wonderful, talented tablers. Nurse a beer; read some zines.

Marguerite will be hosting a FREE comics workshop. If you’re interested in creating your own comics and don’t know where to start, this is the workshop for you.

I’ll be going over how to create comics–from the initial idea to finally getting it down on paper–and how to make your DIY books ultra faboo.

I’ll also talk about how basically any subject you choose can be made into a comic and do a little art demo.

At 5pm, meet at the stage area–once you enter Pete’s, just keep walking straight and bam, you’re on a stage.

FREE! Just show up!

Saturday Nightmares This Weekend!!!

This weekend at the Sheraton Meadowlands in East Rutherford New Jersey Saturday Nightmares returns!  I went last year and it was one of the best convention experiences I’ve ever had.

Worth checking out for The Twilight Zone marathon on the big screen alone.

One of my favorite parts of the Saturday Nightmares convention is the focus on actual film screenings.  So many conventions really blow this.  I’m personally looking forward to seeing The Birds on the big screen with an intro by Tippi Hedren and Q&A moderated by one of the most engaging personalities in the genre Roy Frumkes!

But I’m most excited about meeting Debra Gordon, who was in one of my all time favorite movies Bloodsucking Pharaohs in Pittsburgh.

Here are the details one more time…
