Manga: Svelte Is A Fun Word
If you found the last two weeks of insane releases a tad hard on the wallet, you will be thrilled this week, there are less than ten titles showing up. Don’t get me wrong this week makes up for it in quality. It seems to be the kind of week for all those manga that regular people (ie: not otaku) read, Oishinbo Volume 6, Black Jack Volume 8, Pluto Volume 6, Vagabond Volume 30, and while those are all well and amazing, there is also Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 21, which came out really quickly this time around, Case Closed Volume 32 comes around, and Gurren Lagann Volume 3 is here. Like I said, it’s a pretty awesome week right?
Batman Character Toys
In Grant Morrison’s creepy comic book classic “Arkham Asylum” doctors attempt to rehabilitate Batman’s former friend turned foe, Two-Face, by replacing his iconic scarred coin with a tarot deck. The theory was to show Tommy Lee Jones there are always more choices than the black and white world of making moral decisions by flipping a coin.
Spider-Man Games
It would be the acme of foolishness to bake Spider-Man a rhubarb pie, as way of reciprocation, should he save you from one of the Green Goblin’s pumpkin bombs. Don’t get me wrong. Pies are nice, but as we all know: ACTION is the Spider-Man’s TRUE reward.
New Releases in Manga: Manga = Love
This is definitely the week that has something for everyone. It’s not quite as massive a release list as last week, but then, that was the first week of the month and we are inching ever closer to the holidays. We’re seeing a lot of yaoi, shojo books, shonen series, books for grown ups and books for little kids.

The comic book world is like America’s political system. For the most part we have a two party system, with DC/Marvel standing in for the bigger political parties. Luckily for us, strong third parties such as Image and Dark Horse carry more industry clout than the libertarians, Green Party or Bull-Moosers EVER did.

The press corp. of the comic book world are a team of hard drinking, hard living SOBs. A gathering of these stalwart gossipmongers can look like an assemblage of WWII veterans, only uglier. Take Myra Hassleback, for example, the woman who broke the news about the Disney/Marvel merger at the cost of three of her own fingers, or consider the case of the late, great Internet reporter who smuggled the unedited Frank Cho Hulk 100 cover out of Marvel. Known only as d34dp001420, his real name and final resting place are still unknown to this day.
