Mike Allred and Steven T. Seagle DO NOT announce new project at SDCC.
Wait..what?
It appears in the hubbub that was Comic Con, comic creators Steven T. Seagle and Mike Allred declined to announce their new project coming from the Man of Action Studios and Image Comics.
We don’t know how we missed this one, because quite honestly, next to “Choker” this would be the most anticipated thing to come out of Comic Con for me. (Along with Blastosaurus, Marvelman, blah, blah, blah, etc).
Allred says the reason they did not announce was because they didn’t want to get lost in the shuffle:
“Especially since I was already announcing the new graphic novel I am co-editing, ONE MODEL NATION, by writer Courtney Taylor and illustrator Jim Rugg as well my all-new the Vertigo series, I, ZOMBIE. I thought it might be better to just wait until later, and Seagle just kept saying we shouldn’t do it at all.”
Very nice move there, guys. Very slick, PR. Regardless, whenever this five issue miniseries does not come out, and when those hundreds of pages done do not hit stands, I’ll be there the first Wednesday.
News tidbits.
- DC Comics Editor-In-Chief Dan DiDio will “take over” a monthly series. That’s cool, I’ve been enjoying his “Metal Men” strip in Wednesday Comics.
- Marvel’s publishing sales flat in the second quarter. Apparently, things haven’t been selling particularly well during this period, and I’m not just picking on Marvel, but things haven’t been great for DC either. Regardless, I’m not good with numbers so hopefully the third quarter will get better.
- The Daily Cross Hatch talks to the Mythbusters. Brian Heater’s DCH is one of the best comic book blogs around. You can expect a stellar interview every week. This one is no different.
- Battlestar Galactica named best tv show, by critics. Even though it never won any awards. Whatever, hogwash, way to say something everyone else has been saying for years. Why do you guys even exist?
- So there has been this Obama/Heath Ledger Joker Socialism poster popping up in Los Angeles. Tons of people are covering it, I’d rather not put any attention to it, but it is note-worthy for the level of despicable, not based in fact, inaccuracy that it portrays. Its pathetic.
- On a not pathetic, saddening note, Tucker Stone has a new Advanced Common Sense which will make you laugh heartily.
“Who Killed Amanda Palmer?”
The incredibly creative couple of Neil Gaiman and Dresden Dolls Lead Singer Amanda Palmer have combined to bring us a work of Palmer’s photography in “Who Killed Amanda Palmer.”
The book doesn’t even come out until September but we here at the Union Square store of Forbidden Planet have the book which features photography by Palmer and stories by Gaiman. The wonderful Ms. Palmer gives us the details:
