Comic Book Creator Types on Twitter.

Twitter is the new favorite thing that everyone uses, it can often be mundane, stalker-y and hilarious. Below is a list of some our favorite Twitter users who also happen to be comic creators. A lot of them dish out advice, drop hatings, but all are generally hilarious.
Geoff Johns. “The Blackest Night” writer frequently chronicles his 711 misadventures, and sometimes I can’t help but laugh at the shenanigans.
C.B. Cebulski. Marvel’s talent manager frequently drops knowledge on what artists need to do to improve their craft and/or break into the comics business. C.B. is a fountain of knowledge and if you’re not already following him you should.
Agent M. The master of Marvel promotion, Ryan frequently updates his many social networks to bring you the latest in Marvel news.
For the other side of promotion go no further than Alex Segura. A Miami Dolphins fan, and pilot of DC’s The Source Blog, which is the best place to get some great preview art and DC News.
Fan favorite creators include: Brian Michael Bendis, Matt Fraction, Jonathan Hickman, James Robinson, Sterling Gates, and Greg Rucka.
The more entertaining Twitters of the Comics Blogosphere happen to be Diesel Sweeties creator RStevens, Kevin Church (of BeaucoupKevin), Chris Sims (The Invincible Super Blog), Graeme McMillan (io9) Brian Heater (Daily Cross Hatch), Tim Leong (Comic Foundry) and Laura Hudson (Comics Alliance).
I’m on Twitter, but I’m allergic to self-promotion. However, you can find me pretty easy if you are so inclined.
Con Wars.
It seems like the increasingly defunct Wizard Magazine is breathing new life, and creating scheduling conflicts. Wizard owner Gareb Shamus has scheduled a convention in Anaheim, California to be held the exact same weekend as C2E2, which is brought to you by New York Comic Con owners Reed Exhibitions.
Gareb Shamus, CEO of New York based Wizard Entertainment, announced today the launch of the first-ever Anaheim Comic-Con, to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center from April 16-18, 2010. Richard McWilliam, Upper Deck Chairman/CEO said, “Gareb and I have been friends for many years now, and I’m happy to see him once again back in Southern California. On behalf of myself and Upper Deck, we congratulate Gareb for bringing the fans here another great Comic-Con.”
Upper Deck recently announced a licensing agreement with Marvel Entertainment to create products based on Marvel characters, including Trading Cards, TCGs and Miniatures Games.
Anaheim will be the fifth Comic-Con city for shows produced by Gareb, joining Chicago, Philadelphia, New York and the recently-purchased Toronto event. Attendees can anticipate the strong caliber lineup of stars and exhibitors that fans across the nation have come to expect.
“We had an outpouring of requests by fans and partners to return to Southern California, and felt that Anaheim was the best place to come back to,” said Shamus. “There is a real desire here for a comic based pop-culture experience, and I feel privileged to get back in touch with our west coast fans in this way. This will truly be an event for families and people of all ages.”
Ahmet Zappa, Publisher of Disney’s Kingdom Comics said, “All of us at Kingdom Comics are thrilled to be working with our friends from Wizard, as they get ready to add the Anaheim Comic-Con to their line-up of spectacular fan events. They have a reputation in the industry for putting on great shows in Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York, and the Anaheim Comic-Con will bring exciting entertainment to our own backyard.”
Kingdom Comics is developing entertaining new graphic novels, and re-imagining motion pictures from the Disney live-action vaults, and plans to use the Anaheim convention to showcase new projects to the fan community.
Now, if you add this with their Big Apple Con coming this October that clashes with the future date of the New York Comic Con, which we won’t see again for another year and some change. So. Yeah, should see a ton of New York comic creators / retailers feeling even more stretched thin between the conventions in the next couple of years.
Bill Gates: Weather Wizard?!

Weather Wizard
While having my morning coffee Today did a story on how Bill Gates seems to think he can control hurricanes. They also made a reference to him as the Weather Wizard.
Five U.S. Patent and Trade Office patent applications, made public on July 9, propose slowing hurricanes by pumping cold, deep-ocean water in their paths from barges. If issued, the patents offer 18 years of legal rights to the idea for Gates and co-inventors, including climate scientist Ken Caldeira of the Carnegie Institution of Washington.
Hurricanes, most famously demonstrated by the deadly intensification of Hurricane Katrina before its landfall in 2005, draw strength from warm waters on the ocean’s surface. The patents describe a system for strategically placing turbine-equipped barges in the path of storms to chill sea surfaces with cold water pumped from the depths.
HA! That’s pretty cool. Until, my overactive imagination goes into overdrive: I can just see it now, after creating these turbines, Bill Gates eventually goes mad with power, as billionaires do. He creates a remote control to control these turbines, in essence controlling hurricanes. He uses these turbines to push a Typhoon from Hawaii. (Yes, I looked they have those there), towards the Apple complex in California essentially destroying his competitor. You see its all a plot against Apple!
Maybe not. Its a stretch, but I do dislike the Weather Wizard for killing Bart Allen.
